• Kindergarten

  In Kindergarten, students have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of materials and techniques to begin to express themselves through Visual Art. They explore and reflect on the works of familiar artists and illustrators and use their connections to create their own masterpieces. Students will explore Art using tools such as Pastels, Watercolors, Ink, and Collage and will enjoy seeing their art displayed throughout the School at the Primary Arts Winter Showcase and at the year-end Junior/Senior Art Exhibition. 

• Grades 1–3

  Visual Arts for the Primary grades encourages students to explore, create, and express themselves through a wide variety of artistic experiences. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, collage, and mixed media projects, students develop foundational skills while building confidence in their creative abilities. Lessons introduce students to a range of artists, cultures, materials, and techniques, inspiring curiosity and imagination while encouraging thoughtful problem solving and artistic risk taking. Students learn to communicate ideas visually, reflect on their creative process, and take pride in their artistic growth. Throughout the year, artwork is celebrated through classroom displays, school showcases, and special events that highlight the creativity and accomplishments of our young artists.

• Grades 4–7

  Visual Arts in the Intermediate years challenge students to expand their creative thinking while refining their technical skills through increasingly complex artistic experiences. Building on the foundations established in earlier grades, students engage in a spiral curriculum that revisits and deepens key concepts, techniques, and artistic processes over time. Through drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and digital art, students learn to work with a wider range of materials, tools, and technologies while developing confidence and independence as artists. Lessons encourage students to make meaningful connections between art, culture, history, identity, and contemporary issues. Students are challenged to think critically, creatively solve problems, and communicate ideas with intention while reflecting on both their artistic process and final works. Throughout the year, artwork is celebrated through classroom displays, school showcases, and special events that highlight the creativity, growth, and accomplishments of our students.
