A Refuge And Sanctuary For Those Longing To Explore, Create, Perform, And Belong

Drama and Theatre Arts at St. George’s School is a haven for students to explore, create, perform, and belong. At the Junior School, students explore theatre through weekly Drama classes. At the Senior School, students have the opportunity to delve into a wide range of disciplines within the Theatre Arts. All students from Grades 8–12 have the opportunity to act, write, and direct for the stage in our Drama classes' rewarding, performance-focused environment. For Grade 10–12 Students, we offer technical theatre experience through Theatre Production; film analysis through Film Studies;  and filmmaking through Television Production. Our Theatre Department prides itself on excellence. Both our curriculum and Saints PlayersTheatre Company productions have won and been nominated for several awards, including at the Vancouver Zone Festival, BC Drama Festival, and the Canadian Young Theatre Awards.

Theatre Arts at St. George’s School provides a trusting and fun environment for students to grow, take risks, and increase their confidence as performers and individuals. Students gain a broad understanding of Theatre Arts and find a myriad of opportunities to explore their interests and strengths on the stage and behind the camera, through character, movement, voice, and creative expression. For students who thrive behind-the-scenes, Theatre and Television Production courses teach the visioning, teamwork, and technical skills that translate hard work into magic in the theatre and on screen.

In Addition To Theatre Arts Classes:

    • Students in Grades 1– 3 participate in the Annual Primary Musical.
    • Boys in Grades 4–7 may audition to participate in the Saints Junior Players Theatre Company’s Annual Production.
    • Twice-annual school productions enable Senior School students to bring professional-quality theatre productions to life.
