• Kindergarten

  Kindergarten: Students develop an awareness of the elements of Drama through imaginative play, storytelling, and creative expression. The Kindergarten Drama Program incorporates playful, interactive, and developmentally appropriate experiences that encourage students to explore ideas, emotions, and stories. Students will have opportunities to experiment with storytelling and story retelling, collaboration, movement, voice, and acting in character. They will explore dramatic concepts such as role, character, expression, and audience while developing confidence, communication skills, and creativity. Through dramatic play and shared experiences, each student will have opportunities to express themselves, engage their imagination, and connect with others.

• Grades 1–4

  Grades 1–4: Students will nurture imagination, creativity, and confidence through play-based learning and exploration. Students engage in storytelling, movement, role-play, and dramatic games that encourage them to use their senses, take risks, and express themselves in a supportive environment. As they progress through the program, students develop their understanding of dramatic forms, learning to communicate ideas through tableau, pantomime, movement, and storybook theatre. Through collaborative performances such as the Primary Arts Winter Showcase and the Primary Musical, students experience the joy of ensemble work while building confidence as performers and storytellers.

• Grades 5–7

  Grades 5–7: Students build upon their foundational skills by deepening their understanding of dramatic forms, character development, and performance. Through Improvisation, Script Creation, Voice Work, and Collaborative Drama Exercises, students learn to think creatively, adapt to new ideas, and communicate with confidence. Particular emphasis is placed on developing character through voice, dialogue, and storytelling while fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and the ability to think on their feet. Students are encouraged to take creative risks, refine their performance skills, and discover the power of theatre as a tool for communication, self-expression, and connection.
